Rotary's a wheel forever
turning:
One's generosity comes round again.
The more one gives, the more gifts one receives
As each day's charity the next day's weaves,
Returning double happiness for pain.
Yet greed and hunger keep life ever churning.
Charity, like floods for irrigation,
Loses least when carefully controlled:
Under weekly social stimulation,
Bringing just the aid parched fields can hold.
So shall your love and pity not turn cold. |
